HOW IT WORKS

Overview

HOW GAMES ARE SCHEDULED

Games are coordinated by CKPC members. When registration closes, all teams/players are given the list of event players. When the teams/players agree a match (best of three games) is considered an official league event match, the winner sends the scores to the club via the upload form.

HOW POINTS ARE ISSUED

The CKPC league consists of a predetermined amount of players/teams for each league event. Each player/team must play a minimum of 50% of the total players/teams in the league. The maximum number of "wins" a player/team can accumulate is equal to 50% of the total number of player/team in the event. The approximate top 10% of players/teams based on match "wins" will play in a playoff event.

CLUB NAME: Cool Kids Pickleball Club of Kelowna, hereinafter to be referred to as ("CKPC")

CLUB MEMBERS: CKPC Members, hereinafter to be referred to as ("MEMBERS")

TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR: Hereinafter to be referred to as ("TD")

SINGLE(S) OR DOUBLE(S) PLAYERS: Hereinafter to be referred to as ("ENTRY") OR ("ENTRIES")

1. NUMBER OF ENTRIES

When the CKPC constructs a new league event, the TD will inform the MEMBERS of the desired number of ENTRIES.

2. POTENTIAL GAMES

The number of potential games in a league event is based on the starting number of ENTRIES. Potential games are based on every ENTRY playing each other ENTRY. For instance, if there are 10 ENTRIES, a potential of 9 games can be played as there are 9 other ENTRIES available to play against.

3. MINIMUM NUMBER OF GAMES

A minimum of 50% of the potential matches must be played in order to be considered qualified for the league event otherwise a disqualification will be issued at the end of the event. This encourages ENTRIES to play enough games to keep the league event active.

4. MAXIMUM NUMBER OF GAMES

ENTRIES can play as many games as possible up to the potential number of games. Qualified ENTRIES will be able to play somewhere between the minimum and potential number of games as some ENTRIES will forfeit the event prematurely due to unforeseen circumstances such as injuries, personal issues, etc.

5. POINTS/RANKING

Two points for every win is how ENTRIES are ranked. The number of potential "wins" for an ENTRY is capped at a minimum of 50% of the "maximum number of games" available at the start of the league event. This is due to the fact that not all ENTRIES will be able to play each other during an event due to unforeseen circumstances. If an ENTRY hits the capped number of "wins", they can (and should) continue to play in the event but their latter "wins" will not further affect their ranking in any manner.

6. PLAYOFFS QUALIFICATION

The top 10% of the ENTRIES @ a minimum of 4 ENTRIES will qualify for the playoffs. The top 10% will be rounded up to the nearest 4, 8, 16, etc. to allow for a bracketed playoff. For example:

A. If there are more than 4 but less than 8 ENTRIES that have qualified, the playoffs will consist of the top 8 ENTRIES.

B. If there are 8 or more but less than 16 ENTRIES that have qualified, the playoffs will consist of the top 16 ENTRIES.

7. TIES AT END OF EVENT

If there are more ENTRIES tied for the playoffs than spots available, the playoffs will be modified accordingly to accommodate. For example:

A. If there are 4 spots available for the playoffs, and 5 ENTRIES tied for first, then the playoffs may be bumped to an 8 ENTRY at the discretion of the TD.

All games shall be played concurrently if there are enough courts in order to expedite the playoffs.

8. DISCRETION

If the format needs to be changed for any reason, such as time or weather constraints, the playoff rules can be modified at any time by the TD.
