RULEBOOK EXCEPTIONS
1. None
CLUB RULES
1. MISSED GAME
When a game is agreed upon and scheduled and the ENTRY does not show up with both players within 15 minutes after the scheduled time, the game is considered forfeited by the late ENTRY and a "win" is recorded for games 1 and 2 to the opposing ENTRY.
2. OFFICIAL BALL
Franklin X40 green is the official outdoor ball. Franklin X26 orange is the official indoor ball. A different ball may be used for a match if both ENTRIES agree.
3. COURT LINES
If the agreed upon court has permanent lines that are reasonably close to official Pickleball Canada rules (ie: badminton lines), then the permanent lines should be used. If the court outer dimensions should be modified for safety reasons (ie: outer court lines close to a fixed structure), then the appropriate inside lines (such as on a badminton court) should be used. ENTRIES should use their own discretion to determine the best court size. If both ENTRIES are present and the court dimensions can not be agreed upon, the game shall be cancelled as if it was never coordinated.
4. WEATHER
If the weather is not conducive to start a game, ENTRIES need to contact each other at least 1 hour prior to the scheduled start time to cancel. If a game has already started and inclement weather arises, ENTRIES need to come up with an agreed upon reasonable solution. This could include, but not limited to, either finish the match at a later time/date or collectively agree to cancel the match all together.
5. INJURIES # 1 - (During Game Play)
If a player is injured during a match and is unable to return, the ENTRY is disqualified and the opposing ENTRY will be issued a win for that game. If the injury occurred on game 1, then the opposing time will be issued a "win" for game 1 and 2. If the injury occurred on any other game, the opposing ENTRY will be issued a win for the injured game and a "win" for game 3 if necessary to provide them the best-of-3 match victory.
6. INJURIES #2 - Doubles (Prior To Game Play)
If a player becomes injured before a scheduled match and informs the opposing team 2 hours in advance of the scheduled game that they are unable to play, the game can be postponed without win/loss being registered. If the injured ENTRY is unable to inform the opposing team of the injury within the 2-hour window, a win for game 1 and 2 and a match win shall be entered.
7. INJURIES #3 - Doubles (Rest of Season)
If an ENTRY loses a player for the rest of a event due to an injury, they can apply for a substitute player one time during the event. The "one time" includes unforeseen events.
8. UNFORSEEN CIRCUMSTANCES
If an ENTRY loses a player for the rest of a event due to an unforeseen event, they can apply for a substitute player one time during the event. The "one time" includes injuries.
9. SUBSITUTIONS
Substitutions in singles or doubles (other than outlined in the injury and unforeseen rules) are not permitted.
Unforeseen and injury substitutions can only be done during the league event and not during the league playoffs.
A substitute player must have been a member prior to the closing of the registration for the event.
Only 1 substitution per team per league event.
The substitute must not be of a higher rated skill level than the removed player.
All other team qualification requirements for the league event must be met if applicable at the start of the event. (ie: combined age/skill limits, etc.)
The substitute players and removed players will not receive any individual points for the league event and playoffs.
The substitute must play out the remainder of the league event and playoffs if applicable. No further substitutions will be allowed.
Substitutions are at the discretion of the TD. The TD can override the substitution rules if he/she believe it is in the best interest of the game.
Any suspected abuse of this rule by any ENTRY or the TD, the ENTRY may be disqualified from the event at the sole discretion of the TD, without recourse or compensation of any kind..
10. COLLUSION
ENTRIES found or suspected of colluding in the outcome of games/matches in order to manipulate the ranking system will be permanently banned from the league and club at the discretion of the TD.
11. DISPUTES
If there is a dispute regarding a completed or incomplete match and a resolution was not found mutually between the ENTRIES, each ENTRY can write a max 300-word email to coolkidspickleball@gmail.com outlining the dispute and recommended solution. All decisions made by the TD are final and will likely be a worse solution than the 2 ENTRIES coming to their own mutual agreement.
12. FINAL DECISIONS
If there are rules not listed in the Pickleball Canada rulebook, or listed in CKPC rulebook pertaining to an action in or outside of a MATCH, or if there are actions covered by the official rules that don't serve the best interest of the game, league, or club according to the TD, the TD may override the rule and their decision is final.
13. MULTIPLE ENTRIES
An ENTRY may only enter once per event. This include both doubles and single events.
